Fire Alarm Installation

Barnstaple, Devon

We were approached by one of our existing customers who was also a landlord of another property. As a result of an inspection of the property due to a new purchaser it was advised that the property be fitted with a Grade A LD2 system throughout the 3 flats, Grade D systems in each of the 3 flats and emergency lighting in the communal staircase and entrance hall.

For those of you who may be wondering what on earth those numbers and letters mean:

Grade A LD2Grade A – A fire detection & alarm system which incorporates control & indicating equipment conforming to BS EN 54-2 and power supply equipment conforming to BS EN 54- 4, and which is designed & installed in accordance with sections 1 to 4 of BS 5839-1:2002 except certain clauses. LD2 – A system incorporating detectors in all circulation spaces that form part of the escape routes from the dwelling, and in all rooms and areas that present a high fire risk to occupants.

Grade D – A system of one or more mains powered smoke alarms, each with an integral standby supply. (The system may, in addition, incorporate one or more mains-powered heat alarms, each with an integral standby supply)

We provided which was accepted and we subsequently installed all 3 elements.

As part of the installation we also had to provide a new consumer unit to supply the power to both the new systems.

If you would like any fire detection equipment or emergency lighting, or have any queries about the different types of system available please contact us on 01626 818280 or email

Matrix Electrical Services fitted a grade A fire alarm system, grade D smoke alarm system and emergency lighting to my property in Barnstaple. The system was fitted in a timely fashion, and the finished job was extremely neat, and completed to an excellent standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending their services in the future.
